Ghostly Holiday is a ghost story based on Hong Kong context. The story is set in a local popular holiday resort, Cheung Chau. The readers will find it very easy to understand and close to their background knowledge.

The story describes a series of mysterious holiday experiences of a group of youngsters having their trip in Cheung Chau.

There are 7 central characters. May was a 16-year-old Australian born Chinese girl. She visited Hong Kong for the first time. Danny, Andy and Leon were brothers and cousins of May. They were also in their teen. They were the guides of May during her stay in Hong Kong. Chan Po was a vicious old woman. She was a witch who had evil magical power. Anita was her daughter dying young in the teen. She was the poor ghost in the story. Julie was Anita’s best friend. She happened to meet May’s group and became good friends with them.

May and her cousins began their trip in Cheung Chau. She was curious about the Chinese customs and the things she saw on the island. The group happened to meet Chan Po and were offered a place, a small house of Chan Po, to lodge in for their holiday. Chan Po was particularly nice to May but May had a kind of unexplainable bad feelings about Chan Po.

Weird things happened in the first night. May heard a girl weeping poorly in the wood outside the house. The other 3 cousins did feel there was something wrong with Chan Po. Later they discussed their unusual experiences with Julie. Julie told them the story about Anita’s death and the bad things Chan Po had done to Anita.

After learning that Anita was trapped in the wood by her mother and the evil plan Chan Po had, the group of youngsters decided to find out the truth and free Anita from the imprisonment of Chan Po. From then on, a battle between the good and the evil began.
